Walt Disney World - The “best time” to visit…depends

The “best time” to visit…depends.

The busier times to visit Walt Disney World parks are when school’s out for major holidays, the summer and three-day weekends.  The very busiest times typically are Christmas to New Year’s and around Easter.  Some considerations:
  • Avoiding the busy times likely means shorter waits for attractions and shows and better access to dining reservations.
  • Busy times can mean extended operating hours and sometimes special incremental entertainment.
  • Disney planners attempt to schedule periodic attraction closures for refurbishment at times other than vacation peaks.
Ideally, you want to go when the weather is moderate and the crowds are low. Unfortunately between vacation schedules and school-age kids, your options might be limited. There are special annual events at Walt Disney World that can add to your vacation experience (though crowds may be increased as well).

Special times of the year are in:
January/early February (beautiful weather and low crowds)
Mid-March - May (Epcot's Flower and Garden Festival)
May/June (Star Wars Weekends)
October and November (Epcot Food and Wine Festival)
Mid-November - New Year's (Holidays Around the World).

In addition, there are two special ticket parties at the Magic Kingdom - Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party (various dates September - October) and Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party (November - December).

Disney has done a fabulous job of planning events just about year-round. That doesn't mean there aren't times when experts say its best to visit, but it means you need to be prepared and dare I say it.....Plan!

NOW Let's go PLAN!!
